Pedex Furniture has therefore established a process-oriented quality management system based on the new ISO 9000:2000 standard.

The ISO 14001 standard specified an environmental management system based on currently valid worldwide standards on which Pedex Furniture has systematically anchored its management environmental policy.

Furniture from Pedex Furniture stands out on account of its solidity and high resistance to wear. It is thus ideally equipment to copy with the demands places on it in daily school use. Long service life is the underlying principle of all Pedex Furniture. We do not produce throwaway products, but regard the many useful years of out tables and chairs not only as a significant quality criterion but rather as a responsible contribution to the saving of natural resources. One consequence of this way of thinking: a table top of extreme robustness and long life manufactured by an innovative process developed by Pedex Furniture. The significant advantage to our customers: the LIGNOdur top is so stable and wear resistant that it is virtually impossible to make an impression on it. On the contrary, other conventional school table tops soon look old and scratched.

In this patented process, sawdust and shaving are compressed at high temperature and pressure and fuse together to from a firm, particularly resistant shape without the need to add synthetic resin as is the case, for example, with chipboard. Thanks to its enormous tolerance to wear and exceptional resistance to scratches, this table top – which is the most stable in the world – has set completely new and up to now unequalled standards in schools throughout the world.

Floor covering scratched? Holes in the floor? The consequences of these are often expensive renovation of the floor covering in class-rooms. School children enjoy rocking on chairs and this leaves its marks – just like sand and small stones which children with profiled soles bring – in with   them – the result is damage to the floor covering. Linoleum and rubber floor coverings are particularly susceptible to such damage.

Extensive renovation is costly, but can be avoided when the pupils' chairs are regularly checked and fitted with new glides which are particularly suitable for school use.

An initial investment which is worth while: glides are parts subject to wear-and-tear and consequent not covered by the furniture guarantee. Worn, very-dirty or defective glides could damage the floor-covering. We therefore recommend that they be regularly checked and replaced in good time with new, qualitative glides.

Correct sitting and ergonomic working – can only be achieved when the pupil's chair is regularly adapted to suit the user's height. In the DIN ISO 5970 and CEN prEN 1729 standards, body height and seat/table height have been correlated and seven table and seat sizes determined. The decisive factor is the regular checking of the size and individual selection because the height of pupils in one class depends on their individual development and can very considerably in other worlds, each pupil needs a chair and tables which suits his height.

All children are the same only some of them are a bit bigger. That is why children often sit at table-chair combinations which are not suitable for them. However, they don't wear trousers which are too small or shoes which are too big. The choice of the correct size is essential otherwise the result could be posture damage , head and backache.

The seven chair size can be easily recognized by their coloured dots . They range from a seat height of 30 cm in size 2 up to a seat height of 50 cm in size 7. The corresponding table heights range from 52 cm to 82 cm. Thanks to this large choice, pupils with a height of 1.20 m or 1.95 m can find the correct sitting and working condition.

School children need movement for their harmonic development. However in schools, sitting still for lengthy periods is part of the daily routine. The solution: a school chair like the Panto Turn which makes dynamic, i.e. sitting with movement, possible. In this way, the natural impulsive movement are not restrained but rather integrated lasting into daily school life and effectively encouraged.

Here the chair adapts itself to the pupil and not vise-versa: the Panto Turn ideally matches the natural sitting and moving needs . It is continuously adjustable in height (seat height from 34 to 52 cm) and can thus be adjusted exactly to suit the height of the child. In addition it is equipped with a dynamic seat with rocking effect . Inclination forwards or backwards as well as a limited tolerance sideways lastingly supports the change between the individual sitting positions.

The effects: the Panto Turn follows every movements of the body and doesn't block them but animated a regular change of sitting posture instead. In the way the chair consequently follows the needs of the child. In contrast to chairs with a rigid seat, sitting on the Panto Turn alternatively important groups of muscles without thereby causing tension.

In the case of the PantoSwing cantilever chair, a change of position of the centre-of-gravity changes the inclination of the seat . In the forward sitting position, the seat is also inclined forwards which stimulates the spine to a dynamic balance and stabilizes the posture.

The dynamic seat of the PantoSwing encourages the ergonomically-important regular alternation of the various sitting positions. Such dynamic sitting – sitting with movements has a positive effects on various group of muscles, activates both and mind and has been shows to increase the attention and ability of the children to concentrate .

The decisive factor to achieve the ergonomic effect of the PantoSwing : the correct choice of the size of chair . Ideally the front edge of the seat should be at approximately the same height as the bottom of the kneecap. In accordance with the DIN ISO standard , the PantoSwing-LuPo is available in 6 sizes to suit individual children (seat heights 30 cm, 34 cm, 38 cm, 42 cm, 46 cm and 50 cm).

The Ergo stands out of the wide range of Pedex Furniture school tables on account of its special ergonomic qualities. The table height can be continuously adjusted to suit the individual school child. The Ergo thus encourages a physiologically-positive sitting posture in school. What happens when the table height is unsuitable? If the table is too low, the child is forced to work with a bent back which strains the spine. On the other hand, if the table is too high, the child tenses its shoulders slightly.

Avoid poor postures . In the case of horizontal table tops, the child is often forced to work bent far forwards. Inclining the working surface avoid such poor postures even when writing in the upright sitting position. A good viewing angle is guaranteed in all positions.

Each according to his own inclination. The Ergo school table is also available with continuously-inclinable working surface – from 0° to 16°. There is a choice of two types of top: one with only an inclined surface and a divided one where part is always horizontal irrespective of the inclination of the other part.

Even the best school furniture is only as good as its adjustment whereby the decisive factor is an optimum individual adjustment of the table height.

The height of the table top can first be determined after the correct seat height has been chosen. When sitting the arms should be bent at 90°. The table top height is correct when the tips of the elbows are two to three centimeters below the table top.

The table top can be simply inclined with a lever. The setting can be carried out quickly to suit the individual situation.

The Ergo school table is continuously adjustable in height over a wide range from 56, 5 to 82 cm. In other words: all the needs of a school can be covered with a single versatile model – from the primary right through to the secondary grades. At the same time it achieves an exemplary ergonomic table solution in every respect.

The Ergo can be easily adjusted to the height needed by each individual child. In this way, classrooms can be equipped with high-quality school tables without considerable organizational expenditure.

The Ergo ensures an optimum working posture because it can be quickly and directly adapted. Individually and exactly to suit the height equipments of the school child who is currently working at it. It thus simplified long-term furniture planning in schools and saves a lot of time and effort in transporting tables of various sizes from place to place. It is not only ergonomic but also considerably more flexible.
